Frequently Asked Indoor Cycling Setup & Product Questions

  • Foothill products are designed to be easy to clean. To remove dust, use a non-abrasive dusting cloth. For most products, wiping down with a mild, non-abrasive soap and water should remove dirt, mud, or sweat. If you’re unsure if a cleaning product will cause damage to your product, test it in a small, inconspicuous area before applying it to the whole product.

  • To mount your Offset Hook, you need approximately 3ft by 3ft (90cm by 90cm) of wall space to display and store your wheelset, depending on tire size. The Offset Hook comes with an easy-to-use installation template that guides you through the process of positioning and mounting your hooks. Simply:

    1. Line up the template.

    2. Mark the holes.

    3. Drill pilot holes for either studs or wall anchors.

    4. Mount the Offset Hook with the screws provided.

If you’re relocating your hooks and have lost your installation template, you can find it here.

  • Yes, the Offset Hook can hold mountain bike wheels. It can be used to safely hold disc brake wheelsets and wheels with larger tires, up to 3.4 inches.

  • The Trainer Tray is designed to hold small devices such as phones, remotes, and ride fuel during indoor cycling sessions. For dual recording, you can also attach an Out Front Mount to use a Garmin, Wahoo, or other cycling computer while you ride. The exact amount of weight your Trainer Tray can hold may vary based on the style and model of cycling mount attached to your bicycle, but the Trainer Tray can typically hold up to 1-3 lbs (453 to 1360 grams).

  • No, the Trainer Tray is typically not compatible with a Peloton bike or other stationary spin bikes. The Trainer Tray attaches to a cycling computer mount, rather than directly to a handlebar, like a Peloton phone mount. The Trainer Tray is designed to be attached to the cycling computer mount of a bicycle being used on an indoor trainer. If you can attach a cycling computer mount to your stationary bike, the Trainer Tray may work for your setup — just check that the Trainer Tray’s dimensions will fit in the intended space.

  • For successful training and racing on an indoor trainer setup, you need:

    1. An indoor cycling trainer set up on a stable surface.

    2. A floor mat or towel.

    3. A fan to help keep you cool (and possibly a sweat towel).

    4. Water and ride fuel.

    5. A place to easily reach your ride fuel, phone, and/or TV remote, especially if you use an online cycling app like Zwift.

    6. If you use a trainer wheel or direct-drive trainer, a place to safely store your wheel.

Foothill Products tackles #5 and #6 in that list: The Trainer Tray provides a secure and convenient place to hold gels, snacks, and small electronics. The Offset Hook lets you quickly and safely store wheels that aren’t in use.

  • Foothill’s cycling products are designed with sustainability, longevity, and the environment in mind. Products like the Trainer Tray, Offset Hook, and Bottle Lever are made from aluminum, an infinitely recyclable material. 3D printed components are typically made from industrial compostable or recyclable filaments. Parts that may wear down over time with use, like mount adaptors, are available for purchase so you can keep using your products for years to come.
